Eight kinds of work, and almost every villa takes all of them. They are listed separately here so you can see what each involves, but they are never planned separately. The pool decides where the seating goes, the seating decides where the shade goes, and the lighting is designed around all of it. Each can be designed, built, or both.
Pools
Concrete pools, built in the shape the design calls for and not a standard rectangle. Steps, a shallow sunbed shelf and underwater lighting are built into the pool itself, not added later. The finish is natural stone, porcelain or travertine. The pool structure comes with a 10-year warranty, and the finish with a 1-year warranty.

BBQ
A permanent outdoor kitchen. The counters are built from concrete and block, then covered in porcelain or stone. A sink, aluminum doors, power sockets and plumbing are put in while it is built. The grill is set into the counter. The whole kitchen goes wherever you will spend your evenings: under the pergola, beside the pool.
Pergolas
Shade structures built as part of the garden, not bought as a kit. Aluminum posts and beams stand on concrete footings in the ground, finished in the color the design calls for. The roof can be slatted, adjustable or solid, depending on how much sun you want through. Lighting and power are wired in during the build, so no cables are added on the outside later.
Outdoor Seating
Seating designed into the garden rather than placed on it. Built-in benches in the same stone as the terrace. Sunken lounges below the lawn with a fire pit in the middle. Terraces with furniture where that suits the design. Each one is placed for shade at the hour you will use it, for privacy, and for the view.

Water Features
Moving or still water, built as a structure rather than bought as a fountain. Each one is a small piece of building and plumbing work: a waterproof tank, with the pump and filter hidden inside, and often a planter in the middle for a single tree. At the entrance it makes the first impression. Beside the pool it covers the sound of the street.
Hardscape
The base everything else sits on. The ground is leveled and packed firm, a concrete base is laid, and then the surfaces go on: large porcelain tiles made for wet feet and Dubai heat, natural stone on the walls, steps and levels, planter edges, and stepping stones through the lawn. Even the manhole covers are sunk into the paving and tiled so they disappear.

Softscape
Plants chosen for the Dubai climate and for how they will look in three years, not just on the day they go in. Palms at over ten meters, olive trees, hedges already at full height. Beds are dug out and filled with fresh soil, with drainage and watering pipes laid first. Lawns are real grass or artificial grass on a firm base, depending on how you will use them.

Outdoor Lighting & Irrigation (MEP)
The part of the garden you never see, put in by our own plumbers and electricians. Automatic drip irrigation to every bed, run from its own pump and tank. Protected cable in pipes to every light, on its own electrical board. Pool pipes and filters. All of it goes in before the paving goes down, which is why we do it ourselves.
